No Translation For This: Celebrating Eastern European Voices
OSO Arts Centre, SW13 0LF , [Venue Details]This evening brings together a group of Eastern European artists based in the UK to share personal stories through different performance forms. Each piece, whether a monologue, song, poem, or movement work, is rooted in real experiences of migration, identity, family, and cultural memory.
Rather than a showcase, the evening is curated as a continuous theatrical journey. Each performance becomes part of a larger narrative exploring what it means to carry one’s culture across borders and build a life between places. Performers include Ukrainian actress Dariia Kuznetsova, who will bring a personal perspective shaped by her experiences across theatre, film, and different cultural environments, and Maria Stana, who will share a poignant piece inspired by the real and often unheard childhood stories of Romania.
At its core, the event explores what it means to leave home, to arrive somewhere new, and to exist between languages, expectations, and identities. The works presented draw from personal memory and collective history, touching on family traditions, generational shifts, adaptation, and reinvention. Moments of humour sit alongside reflection; intimacy meets resilience.
